lautnusantara.com Cleaning a baby octopus isn't as complicated as it seems. The process is quick and simple. Here's a step-by-step guide to properly cleaning a baby octopus:

  • Rinse Under Running Water: First, rinse the baby octopus under cold running water. Use your fingers to gently rub to remove any mucus and dirt.
  • Remove the Beak (Mouth): Place the baby octopus face down in the palm of your hand. You'll see a small, hard, beak-like part in the center of the tentacles. Simply press this area with your index finger, and the beak will easily detach.
  • Remove the Eyes: There are two ways to remove the eyes of a baby octopus:
  • Press: Press the area around the eye until the eye pops out, then remove it.
  • Cut: Use a sharp knife to cut the eye out and separate it from the head.
  • Clean the Head: Turn the baby octopus' head (the sac-shaped part) upside down to expose the inside. You'll find the ink sac and other internal organs. Remove and discard all the contents.
  • Final Rinse: Once all the dirt has been removed, rinse the entire baby octopus (both tentacles and head) again with clean water until thoroughly clean.

After cleaning, the baby octopus is ready to cook. You can also rub it with a little salt and lime juice to remove any remaining slime and fishy odor before cooking.
