lautnusantara.com - Raw fish dishes are dishes that feature raw or partially raw fish as a primary ingredient. These dishes can be found in many different cuisines around the world, including Japanese, Peruvian, Hawaiian, and Scandinavian. Some examples of raw fish dishes include:

1.    Sashimi: Sashimi is a Japanese dish that consists of thinly sliced raw fish or seafood, often served with garnishes such as daikon radish, shiso leaves, or shredded Japanese ginger. The fish used for sashimi is usually very fresh and of high quality, as the flavor and texture of the fish are essential to the dish.

2.    Sushi: Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish that typically consists of vinegared sushi rice, fresh seafood or vegetables, and sometimes other ingredients like avocado, egg, or tofu, all wrapped in nori seaweed.

3.    Poke: Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish that typically consists of diced, raw fish (often tuna or salmon) that is marinated in a flavorful sauce, such as soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions.

4.    Ceviche: Ceviche is a popular seafood dish that is commonly found in Latin American cuisine, particularly in coastal regions of Central and South America. Ceviche typically consists of raw fish or seafood that is marinated in citrus juices along with onions, chili peppers, cilantro, and other seasonings. As the fish marinates in the acidic juice, the acid denatures the proteins, effectively "cooking" the fish without heat.

5.    Carpaccio: Common in Italy, Carpaccio is a dish originally consisting of finely sliced or pounded raw beef. The term may also cover similar dishes consisting of other types of raw meat or fish. It is made of very thinly slices of marinated swordfish, tuna, or other large fish.

6.    Koi pla: A Southeast Asian dish consisting of finely chopped raw fish mixed with lime juice and various other ingredients, including fish sauce, garlic, chilis, herbs and vegetables. This dish is a popular raw fish dish in Isan or Northern Thailand.

7.    Soused herring: It is typically made by marinating whole herring fish in a mixture of vinegar, water, sugar, and spices such as onion, bay leaves, and allspice. The herring is often filleted and served with onions, pickles, and sometimes sour cream or mustard. Soused herring is a traditional dish that originated in Northern Europe, particularly in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark.

8.    Gravlax: A Nordic dish made up of raw salmon, lightly cured in salt, sugar, and dill. Usually served as an appetizer, sliced thinly and accompanied by a dill and mustard sauce with bread or boiled potatoes. Today it is no longer fermented. Instead, the salmon is "buried" in a dry marinade of salt, sugar, and dill, and cured for a few days.

Raw fish dishes can be delicious and healthy, but it's important to ensure that the fish is fresh and handled properly to avoid any risk of foodborne illness.
