This fish has six types of fins on its body, there are a soft dorsal fin, a spiny dorsal fin, a caudal fin, an anal fin, two pelvic and two pectoral fins. Their fins usually will has a grey or darker color but sometimes fish from murky water will have yellow fins with the anal fin is the brightest.

The giant trevally is an carnivorous fish and is one of the apex predator on its habitat. They will go hunt individually or in schools. The main diet of giant trevally is various kind of fish, but they often including crustacean, cephalopods and molluscs into their menus.
